Planting Seeds for the Future!

Over 250 students from St Bernadette’s Primary, Lalor Park celebrated Schools Tree Day on Friday 29 July with a variety of activities organised by Bunnings at Seven Hills, designed to teach the students about the environment and contribute to the school’s sustainability endeavours.
With National Tree Day on Sunday 31 July, Schools Tree Day is the nominated day for students to participate in Australia’s largest community tree planting event.
Throughout the day, students from all year groups took part in activities that included planting, construction of gardens and lessons about the environment. Students also learnt about sustainable practices within their community and how they can use their new skills at school and home.
Bunnings’ visit to the school on Schools Tree Day coincided with the school’s plan to rejuvenate and extend the vegetable patch as well as the development of an ANZAC garden to acknowledge and remember those who have served their country. The Seven Hills RSL will visit St Bernadette’s in August to place a commemorative plaque in the garden.
