"And So This Is Christmas ..."

As the song goes …“And so this is Christmas and what have we done?” … in the school garden there have been some interesting additions but more importantly, students have had access to an environment which is calm, pleasant and natural! The Environment Team were able to celebrate their achievements, with a Christmas Party which included putting together a Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer biscuit and presenting cards and gifts to those who have guided them through the “earthy” challenges!

Lewers Cafe and Art Gallery!

As the school year draws to a close, the Environment Team were treated to a celebratory lunch at Cafe at Lewers Emu Plains. Meals at the Café are prepared with fresh produce from the Kitchen Garden. Welcome rain prevented a “turn in the garden” but a tour of the adjoining Art Gallery was on offer and coincidentally the creative displays, featured items made from recycled materials!  The event was an opportunity to reflect on what has been achieved for the school, as a group and as individuals.

What's That Hiding In The Garden?

Turns out it is an egg … but where did it come from and what happens to it now? A good discussion followed, with many answers offered and a suitable solution reached! Time to get back to the watering and pea picking!

A Helping Hand for the Farmers!

Students dressed like Farmers and donated a gold coin, so as to be in solidarity with those who are experiencing severe drought. Watering was done with great care and gratitude was expressed when the school garden was able to produce a harvest of Sugar Snap and Snow Peas, which were just the thing for the Pea, Feta and Tomato Salad, whipped up by the Environment Team!

The Garlic Bread as a SIDE, was very tasty!
