A Bush Christmas!

While the year ends with water restrictions, the students are active with their watering cans and are still able to find little miracles of Nature and enjoy a celebratory party, with water as the preferred beverage! As Christmas is a time of goodwill and thoughts turn to those less fortunate, maybe some shopping could be done at https://farmers.org.au/news/buyfromthebush ... a practical way to support regional communities, struggling with the drought!
Thank you for your interest and support in 2019 … looking forward to more  “Learning and Fun” in 2020!

Wicking Beds and "Pots of Fun"!

Bluey’s Patch has been jazzed up with the completion of the Wicking Beds, the erection of Decorative Wall Screens and even a colourful Beach Umbrella, has been added!  Good job, Mr Fuller … thank you! The Term 1 Environment Team carefully sorted the ‘Pots of Fun’ (a great initiative by Woolworths!) into Herbs, Vegetables and Flowers and planted them in the beds.
Abbey (winner of the ‘Name the New Garden’ competition) was busy at home, constructing and planting out her prize, with strawberries, kale and pretty  petunias … well done Abbey!

Visit to Lalor Park Community Garden, Term 4 Environment Teams and Bluey's Patch!

The Term 3 Environment Team members celebrated their achievements with a lunch at Lalor Park Community Garden, followed by a tour of the garden, led by Mrs Rebecca Lewis, who was generous in sharing her knowledge of the thriving plants, which were putting on a colourful show, after the recent rain!
The Term 4 Environment Team responsibilities will be shared by all 24 students, with Term 1 Team taking on Weeks 1-3, Term 2 Team handling Weeks 4-6 and the Term 4 Team, will being responsible for the Week 7-9, chores! The 3 Teams will come together to wind up a very successful year, in Week 10!
The lucky winner of the “Name the New Garden” competition was Abby in (Stage 2) with the innovative name of ‘Bluey’s Patch’ … watch this space for the unveiling of the Sign!

Succulents and Veggie Fritters!

As Term 3 drew to a close, the students were busy placing succulent cuttings in pots, in order to sell at the Year 6  end-of-yearfund raiser … a very worthwhile cause! There was still watering and weeding to do and then, thankfully … down came the rain! Meanwhile, the “Let’s Cook and Create” students were cooking up a storm making Veggie Fritters, with potatoes, carrots, spring onions, zucchini and parsley … very tasty!!

All Hands on Deck!

For the Environment Team, it was a case of "all hands on deck" as they carefully, (yet joyfully!) transported the succulents, mother-in-law's tongue and a scarecrow (in need of a make-over!) to the new garden area! While in other areas of the garden, some interesting characters, were popping up!
