Sometimes the ‘Fun and Learning’ takes
place outside the school garden! The Environment Team recently travelled to the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability
at Waverton to learn more about recycling, plant regeneration,
community gardens and the re-establishment of an industrial site, which is now
a place of beauty, to be enjoyed by the general public!

Rewrite/sequence a recipe from memory
Let students know they will need to pay close attention to the equipment, ingredients and recipe steps as they will be rewriting/sequencing, the recipe. Students work from memory to recreate the recipe, using their knowledge of recipe structure to guide them. Students can visualise the pieces of equipment and ingredients they used and write these down, organised in the form of a list. They should also write down the steps they followed to prepare the dish.

Goodbye Autumn - Hello Winter!
As we said farewell to Autumn, it was time to give the
plants a boast with some diluted Worm Juice and protect them from the Winter chill with
sprinklings of Lucerne Mulch!
Also, it was a good time to emulate Dirt Girl from ‘Get Grubby TV’ and
clean up the fallen leaves! World Environment Day - 5
June, was celebrated with a bowl of Maltese Minestrone Soup, prepared by

Dwarf Peas and Beans!
Even Dwarf Peas and Beans need support, so bamboo stakes were strategically
placed among the seeds, so that when they sprout, the tentacles will attach
themselves to the wooden sticks!
Basil seeds were also planted in the garden beds with the emerging bulbs
and all beds were topped up with potting mix and cow manure … prompting the
question: “What’s that dreadful smell?”
