"The drumming of an army, the steady, soaking rain"

“The drumming of an army, the steady, soaking rain” these are the apt words of Dorothea Mackellar in her famous poem ‘My Country’and how welcome the rain was, as it poured down on the thirsty St Bernadette’s school garden! The rain gauge was full, 4 times over and as it normally holds 25mls, some clever students were able to calculate that 100mls had fallen in all! But wait … did all that rain fall in Week 3 or did some rain fall during the school holidays … a very good question to contemplate! Meanwhile, Philippa (Stage2) commented that a fungus “looks like a Ballerina” … good observation, Pippa!

Another puzzling question arose: “Why is one Crepe Myrtle thriving and the other one, not looking so well?” The school garden elicits many interesting questions and observations from students and is open each Tuesday and Wednesday at Recess and Lunchtime!

 Everyone is welcome!
