"From Packets to Containers!"

Even as Winter makes its mark, the garden is still a place to experience the wonder of nature, discover cold climate produce i.e. strawberries and add a little soil and water to the struggling plants! The Environment Team have placed Posters around the school, encouraging students to take their chips, etc. out of the foil packets and put them in a re-usable container, before bringing the snacks to school!
Meanwhile, the “Let’s Cook and Create” students are appreciating the harvest of fresh parsley and mint, for their delicious Rice Paper Rolls!

From the Garden to the Table!

Environmental Leaders from St Bernadette's attended the Primary Farm Day offered by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW at Homebush recently and enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities, including a session where they made Rice Paper Rolls from scratch!
Meanwhile back at school 'The Garden to the Table' theme was continued with students harvesting Mint as a garnish for their yummy Strawberry Rice Cake Crush!

Grow, Harvest, Prepare, Enjoy!

There is great satisfaction for students when they grow their own herbs and an even greater sense of achievement when they are able to harvest them and use in recipes like Rice Paper Rolls and Tabbouleh ... very fresh and tasty!
