"I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato"




This was the statement made by a few children at the Catholic Early Centre at St Michael's Blacktown South ... however, things changed when they actually grew their own Cherry Tomatoes!

Parents watched from a 'hidden' spot in amazement, as confirmed non-tomato eaters, prepared, cooked and ate Tomato and Cheesy Muffins!
The crop was so profuse that the children were able to sell the excess produce for 10 cents a tomato, with the proceeds going towards 'Outdoor Education' resources.
The Centre already has a bridge which the children use when pretending to catch fish ... maybe, they are well on the road to ...

Happy 2012!


A new year often brings change and two Year Six students discovered quite a few changes at Nano Cottage on a visit in Week One, Term 1! An Early Learning Centre is nearing completion beside the Cottage which means that for the moment, the students can only view the Kitchen Garden through the fence! However, judging from the excess growth visible and the continuing rain, there will be plenty of jobs to carry out and produce to harvest ... watch this space!
