Bluey’s
Patch came alive with students,
watering weeding and spotting butterflies and a tiny gecko, sunning itself on a
warm rock! Mr Jo Jo – the Scarecrow (named by Elijah) was
given a new face and some stuffing to pad him out, as he keeps an eye on
creatures, wanting to feed on the plump tomatoes. A Birdbath has been placed near the Mary
MacKillop callistemon and the tadpoles have settled into their new environment,
amongst the bromileads!

"From Little Things Big Things Grow - Tomatoes!"
When some students took a quick look in Bluey’s Patch, (while observing ‘social distancing’) they were amazed to
find that tomatoes of different kinds, had sprung up in the Wicking Beds! They
are a result of the Compost created by the Crunch & Sip scraps, which was
placed on the beds, last Term!
If you would like to create your own Compost, at home,
this is what can be added to the Bin or Bay:
*Vegetable or food scraps
* Vegetable oil
* Prunings and lawn clippings
*Vacuum dust
*Shredded paper and cardboard
*Used potting mix
*Eggs shells
*Flowers
What not to add in your compost bin/bay:
Meat
and bones, dairy products, diseased plants, metals, plastic and glass, animal
manures, fat, magazines, large branches, weeds that have seeds or underground
stems, sawdust from treated timber, pet droppings, synthetic chemicals.

In the Garden!
... In the garden
Pull the weeds
Dig a hole
Plant the seeds
Cover them up
Water them too
Watch them grow
In front of you!
Make sure they sprout
Get lots of sun
To grow a plant
Is tons of fun!
